Current Goal

The mission of the Hopewell UMC Confirmation TB is to travel from the area of Hopewell UMC church near Downingtown, Pennsylvania to the Areopaus in Athens Greece and back.  While there we would like to have a photo of the TB taken by the plaque commemorating Paul's speach.  It would be cool to have the geocacher who achieves this in the photo as well.  Please upload the photo so we can see it.

This mission and travel bug was concived because this bug owner is a confirmation mentor for a young man at our church.  The confirmand is interested in Greek and Roman mythology and I'm interested in the Greek Philosophers and the meeting of Jewish thought and Greek thought.  

A notable meeting of these two perspectives took place at the Areopagus (Roman - Mars Hill) when the Apostle Paul spoke there (See the second half of Acts chapter 17).

There is an Earth Cache at the Areorpagus.  It would make sense to place the bug in that cache to fulfil this mission.

Also, keep an eye out for the Broken Plane TB which my confirmation buddy LBRO42 has prepared to make a similar mission.  We'll see if one of these can make it to Athens.

 

About This Item

The Journey Begins

This trackable is a TB glued to the side of a pill bottle.  Our church logo is affixed to the bottle as well.  As a little extra fun, we've included a travel log.  Please sign and date it and if you are so inclined say a prayer of encouragement for the confirmation candidate who motivated its mission.  (Who knows, he may be out of college by the time this mission is accomplished).
