أهلا بكم في عمان Welcome to Oman. You had a relaxing flight after the plane had to return to the gate in Manila which resulted in less time to spend in the lounge in Muscat. A quick recharge and it was back onto the next flight. 🇴🇲

Maligayang pagdating sa Pilipinas. Welcome to the Philippines. You’ve flown into Manila which is technically my home city since this is where Mr Wombat is working. Metro Manila is home to 13.5 million people is is actually composed of sixteen independent cities, of which you are staying in Pasig City. The normal problem with Manila is that the geocaching is poor and I’ve already found all the caches that are actually there. The problem with this visit is that it is sooooooo hot as South East Asia is being hit by a heat wave. 38C but they measure with a ‘feels like’ heat index here and that’s 54. You are staying here for a bit more than a week but not moving far from my aircon and pool. 🇵🇭

Very hot in Singapore again today so we enjoyed the shady areas in Gardens by the Bay. I always look for the otters here but they eluded me again. Recovered with a Hawker Market meal and then it was back to Changi Airport for your next flight. 🪷

We went to see the Merlion fountain tonight. Lovely lights around Marina Bay. The Merlion is the official mascot of Singapore - a mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish. Spouting water from its mouth, the Merlion statue stands at 8.6 metres and weighs 70 tonnes. Originally located at the mouth of the Singapore River, it had to be moved to Marina Bay because of land reclamation. 🧜‍♀️

Took a look around the Fort Canning Hill today. It is believed that the Fort Canning Hill area was once the centre of ancient Singapura that thrived in the 14th century. The Malays called the hill Bukit Larangan or Forbidden Hill because of the belief that it is the place where the kings of ancient Singapore were laid to rest. The unique blend of historical relics, lush greenery and expansive lawns has made Fort Canning a hub of cultural and artistic activity. 🐲

Welcome to Singapore. I really like Singapore and have been here many times so it’s easy for me to get around. This time, south-east Asia is experiencing a major heat wave so I’m not planning on doing to much. 🇸🇬

Visited 4/21/2024 Wombatwandering took it to Victorian COTY Awards - Nominees Announcement Victoria, Australia - 11.81 miles  Visit Log

Time for you to find your passport, pack your bags, stock up on Vegemite and Fruit Tingles, and leave Australia. Time for you to see the world. Before you fly off, you need to attend the Victorian Cache of the Year event and BBQ in Altona. It’s a sad time for me, hard to say goodbye. 🛫

Visited 4/19/2024 Wombatwandering took it to Timber Ridge Victoria, Australia - 4.24 miles  Visit Log

Visiting some relatives in Doncaster in Melbourne’s east. There was originally a train line planned to go down the Eastern Freeway to Doncaster but why spend money on public transport when you can build more roads and add more lanes on the freeway? So shortsighted. 🚙

Took a walk down to the Yarra River from my in-law’s house in Alphington. It’s very pretty down there, you wouldn’t know you were in the suburbs of Melbourne. 🛶

Visited 4/17/2024 Wombatwandering took it to City Circle Tram v2 Victoria, Australia - 13.6 miles  Visit Log

I took an old rattler tram around the city circle so I could find the answers for this cache. I used to take trams like these to school in the late 80s. The modern trams were already in service but you’d still get one of the old trams fairly regularly. They were cold in winter but I never minded them. The W-class tram is a cultural icon to Melbourne: those that remain in the city are classified by the National Trust of Australia. 🎟️
