About This Item

Little Horse of Iron

In 1665, France's King Louis XIV sent some horses from his royal stables to colonies in New France and Acadia (Quebec and Nova Scotia today).  Adapting to the rough conditions, these horses were the foundation of what is known as the French Canadian breed of horse and the National Horse of Canada since 2002.  The Canadian horse is known for being brave, intelligent, versatile and beautiful.  Also known as the "Little Horse of Iron", the Canadian horse almost became extinct and today continues to be rare.
