About This Item

Howdy! We're Tex and Cookie!

Howdy y’all! We're Tex and Cookie! We're some friends of some great kids in the Fellowship Church Children's Ministry. They have been wondering what we are doing this summer. We told them we are learning lessons from the Bible while going on an adventure all around the world! And guess what fellow geocachers? You can take us there! Take us with you wherever you go this summer - to the beach, your backyard, on a cruise, on a plane, in the car - anywhere!

There are several of us floating around. So to log: If you have our original dog tag, log as normal (grabbed, dropped, etc). If you have our paper copies, make sure you click "Discovered" and then post your log. We would love to have a picture of you with us on your log along with the location you took the picture! Then, Instagram or Facebook your pictures with us and be sure to hashtag the words #FlatTexCookie to have your photo featured in the photo gallery on LeadershipForKids.tv/TexCookie!

Thanks for your help! Our friends are going to be so exited to see where we go! Let's travel!

Grab It (Not from a Cache) 8/6/2014 Fugads grabbed it   Visit Log

Per owner's instructions, grabbing this TB back since I have the original tag/TB. I will be dropping it off in Knoxville soon.

While I've had it these last few weeks, I've taken it to some interesting spots in Oak Ridge Tennessee, home of Oak Ridge National Laboratories (ORNL). ORNL was started during World War II in the race to develop nuclear weapons, and has an interesting history with nuclear research. The TB stopped by the Museum of Energy and Science here.

  • Museum of Science and Energy The American Museum of Science and Energy
  • AMSE at Oak Ridge Really great museum going into the nuclear energy development at Oak Ridge

Hi there! I saw the note with people asking on how to log this trackable with copies going on and I wanted to address it.

This trackable's goal is to only help enrich the lessons that we teach kids in our classroom through the pictures you take of places you go. While on the copy tags I expressly stated how to discover the bug and keep with continuity, some are not reading the instructions. If you have the ability to correct the log, please try. If this happens in the future and you have a hard time logging it correctly, please don't stress out about it and simply log discovered with a photo of where you are taking Tex and Cookie.

The kids in my class have LOVED seeing where Tex and Cookie have gone and I greatly appreciate everyone helping us out this summer!

If you have any other questions, do not hesitate to ask!

Hi trackable owner. I still have this travelbug that I picked up in North Carolina. However, it appears the copy tag is also in the wilds so another cacher is logging the copy tag in Texas right now. I'm not sure what you would have me do. It is not ideal for two objects to be traveling to caches with the same tracking code, at least from a continuity perspective. It also makes it difficult for cachers to drop.retrieve from caches since they will not properly show up in cache inventories. I can keep this TB for now while the copy is still moving around, mail it back to you to hold onto, or simply drop it off somewhere in Tennessee. Please advise how you want to proceed.
