Every year at Christmas, we get a new travel bug for each member of our family and come up with a theme for the year. Then we release them out into the wild for a race for at least the next year. But usually they are having too much fun traveling around the globe and just stay out there racking up miles.
We have had a family of lizards, knights, trains, jets, and just some plain old travel tags. They have traveled anywhere from 0.0 miles to over 79,000.
This year we were having a hard time coming up with a good theme until I found a monster coming out of our closet late one night. I immediately captured him and after a quick interrogation where he mumbled something about a monster world inside our closets! I decided this would be our theme for the year. It took a few nights of stings to capture 6 of these elusive monsters, but found they are easy to convince to travel on our Travel bugs. They do not get to travel outside of their world in our closets very often and were eager to explore our world.
So now it is up to you! We have one year to see how many caches each of these can see and how many miles they can cover. The winner gets to pick where in the world they want to live and the rest have to go back into the closet.
This is Carla. She is racing for my wonderful wife.
The monsters in this race are:
Sully - TB6132Y 1,785.6 miles
Carla - TB61340 8,525.6 miles
Johnny Ems - TB6133M 17,061.4 miles
Sherri - TB61332 5,973.6 miles
George - TB61343 15,220.3 miles
Terry & Terri - TB6133N 15,314.6 miles
As of December 26, 2015, Johnny Ems is leading this race, but a couple others are only a little ways behind.

Monsters DO live in closets! I have proof! I have seen my boys go into closets and come out looking extremely frightening! And the things a person finds in closets, well only a monster would be responsible for putting them there. Then of course there's all the stuff that no one knows how it happened, so the only natural assumption is that the monsters are afoot again! 😉 Spotted in the cacherific hands of K4$, he's not afraid of monsters either apparently. Thanks for sharing, good luck on your race and happy travels!

Needing to replace one of our geocaches today, I loaded up some nearby caches just in case I had some time to gather up a few smileys. As luck would have it, time was on my side. To boot, the sun was shining along the snowy 3/4 mile walk into Jumelle Racine where Carla's been camped out for nearly a year and a half. Rescue complete! She's likely headed to Seattle this President's Day weekend. Happy trails, and thanks for sharing!
