To get as many logs as possible in memory of my Dad. My Dad wanted a party for his departure, he never wanted tears. This is a way for him to carry on through one of his hobbies.
I thought this a fitting way to remember my Dad, Tom Travis who cached as spuds234. He loved life and dabbled in caching both in Texas and Massachusetts.
Dad was born and raised in Peekskill, New York and joined the Air Force. He was stationed at Westover Air Force Base were he meet my Mom and they married. Mom and dad divorced in the 70's. Dad drove truck most of his life, he tried a few other things but always came back to driving truck. He retired from Milton Bradley and lived in Ludlow with my step mom Elaine Shanley. They were partners in life for more than 30 years.
Dad lived in Massachusetts but visited us in Texas about once a year. He spent much time caching with my husband Gary. He problaby had more caches in Texas than in Massachusetts. He did have a buddy in Massachusetts that he did caching with from time to time.
Dad would approve of the tastfulness of my new tattoo, but he would not approve of me getting it. To me this is a beautiful way to remember him and to take him places and live on through caching.
Your battle is over, no more tears flowing down your cheeks
No more pain, no more suffering, you are no longer weak
You taugh me right from wrong, you stood by my side with smiles and opinions
You were there for me until the day you closed your eyes and I had to say goodbye
I was glad to be by your side and hold your hand when you closed your eyes
Our time together was memorable and God took you too fast
The most precious memories for me is that you were there for my first breath, and I was there for your last
Now your my angel, so spread your wings and wrap them around me to keep me safe
I am grateful and proud to call you my dad
