Please help Rocky return to original home on top of sand dune at Turkey Flats in lower desert region of Joshua Tree National Park in California. Virginia is nice, but wants to go home!

Joshua Tree National Park, CA

At the recommendation of a park ranger, I parked my car at Turkey Flats parking lot in Joshua Tree National Park, California in February 2001 and hiked a pathless area across to sand dunes. The dunes are visible from the road, but, as the ranger warned, be sure you leave good footprints in the sand to find your way back. Once you get 50 feet from your car, you can't see it anymore! Many a hiker has returned to the road easily enough, but then turned the wrong direction on the road to find their car. When night falls in warmer weather, the sidewinders come out.....

Rocky (a particularly interesting little rock to me) was found on top of the dunes. No doubt, washed down from the rugged mountains just behind the dunes.....

Turkey Flats is located on the main road leading through the lower desert, and is closer to the park entrance located near I-10, although it's still somewhat of a drive in from there. The flats are not far from the cactus garden preserve.

Oh yeah, watch for caving sand. Several times I took a step on apparently solid surface only to collapse into some critters tunnel up to two feet below.

Took the rock from the Canadian Mooooo and will give it a little movement, seemingly in the wrong direction, going to Germany. But I know of a good chance to get it to the West Coast after.
