The Medallion

This medallion commemorates Telescope Peak, the highest spot in Death Valley National Park. The peak, in the Panamint Mountains, is 11,049 feet high. The view from the top is stunning, but it is a challenging hike: 13 miles round trip, with over 3000 feet of climbing, no water, surrounded by some of the hottest and driest territory in the world.
