Carleen's Dirty Golf Ball was inspired by this thread on the Groundspeak Bulletin Boards. Reading through the thread, it might not make a whole lot of sense today, but this was before there was an OFF Topic forum on the bulletin boards. Many of us wanted an Off Topic, but TPTB didn't want one, so threads that even hinted of drifting off topic would get shut down quickly.

That thread started us on to the road toward Off Topic. It was a night of silliness and we went on a rampage with that particular thread, betting dirty golf balls and McToys as to when the thread would finally be locked up. I don't think we really kept track of who actually won the bet, but many of us are now sending golf balls to people as a result of that thread. Hopefully, this dirty golf ball will make it back to Carleen.

Yay!!! It finally got here!!! I only took 6-7 years! After it went missing for a few years, I figured it was long gone and then it showed up again. By then, I had moved from Nebraska to Illinois, so some updates were in order. Now it is here. I grabbed it from a cache less than a mile from my house. 😁 So what should it do now????

Let's try that again from the correct account (although I'm sure that Ty dog would happily go with me to get the TB).

I could easily pick this one up from anywhere along the Rt 59 corridor (I work in Elgin and live in Shorewood, so I drive that route a lot). Amazing to see it get here so fast after being missing for so long!

Grabbed this one to get it much closer to Balrog. I might not get it into that specific cache, but as I log this....the golf ball is now just 6 miles from Balrog....it may have to settle for now for different cache in or near Shorewood....or maybe since it's so close a hand off may be possible???
