About Vlieland (Dutch pronunciation: 'vlilant'; West Frisian: Flylân) is a municipality and wonderful island in the northern Netherlands. The municipality of Vlieland has only one major town: Oost-Vlieland (West Frisian: East-Flylân). It is the second-least densely populated municipality in the Netherlands (after Schiermonnikoog).

Vlieland is one of the West Frisian Islands, lying in The Wadden Sea. (The Wadden Sea is the largest unbroken system of intertidal sand and mud flats in the world and is UNESCO world heritage) It is the second island from the west in the chain, lying between Texel and Terschelling. The island was separated from the mainland in St. Lucia's flood in 1287. Vlieland was named after the Vlie.

In doing a cache inventory today I noted that this bug was marked as in residence at North Woods TB Lodge, but was not actually there. I am marking it missing to clear it from the cache inventory. This does not mean that it is ACTUALLY missing. Many foreign cachers and other tourists visit this cache and do not log their visits until they get home, sometimes forgetting, so it may pop up again.

Wat een geweldige foto's! Ik ga deze TB zeker volgen op zijn reis van Vlieland naar New York en verder. Maar een mooiere plek dan Vlie zal hij niet vinden..... :-)
