Weight: 6–10 lbs; Length: 43 inches (including the 15" tail); 9 to 12" tall at shoulders. Brown gray in summer, white in winter.

About 4 years; 16 years (captivity average)
- Range/Distribution
Treeless tundra in coastal areas, plus pack ice in winter. Along the north and west coasts of Alaska to about 200 miles inland, and just as far offshore during winter freeze-up: also the Aleutian and Pribilof Islands.
- Diet
Small mammals, including lemmings and tundra voles, nesting seabirds such as auklets, puffins, and murres, sometimes berries, eggs, and carrion.
- Predators
Humans, Wolves, Polar Bears, Golden Eagles and Snowy Owls
- Reproduction
Mating occurs in early March and early April. Gestation lasts 52 days. Litters average seven pups but may contain as many as 15 pups. Birth weight is 3 to 5 ounces.
Both blue and white color phases occur in arctic foxes. Foxes of the blue phase remain dark or charcoal colored year round, and are only somewhat lighter colored in winter, as opposed to the luxurious white winter coats of the white color phase foxes.
