Mission

The goal of each trackable is to travel the world over the next nine months and come home to Somerset with their own stories by September 2016.  Attached to each trackable is a book, a pencil and a sharpener.  We would like you to record your sense of place.  This can be done by writing a description of where you are, sketching the view or by writing a poem.  If you take a picture please share it with us.  The images will be used in this years' exhibition and open studio event at the fort as part of Somerset Art Weeks (September 17th - 2nd October) and The Big Draw, the world's largest drawing festival.  With international contributors you will be part of the bigger picture.

As Cache in Trash Out trackables please take time to look around you and take away any rubbish that may be around the site, let's all do our bit for the environment to feel the Sense of Place.

Sense of Place

Donna Vale and Joy Merron formed the collaborative ‘Sense of Place’ in 2015 as part of Somerset Art Weeks at Brean Down Fort.  Creating a site-specific exhibition with participating artists.  They responded to the memories of the people who lived and worked there, with a consideration for the coast and the environment.  Both have been instated as Artists in Residence for the National Trust to continue the project through 2016. There are a total of four trackables which will start their journey within the geocaches that are situated at Brean Down and managed by the National Trust.
