This geocoin started its journey in 2014 from Adelsö - the island where the king of the Viking town of Birka was established in Hovgården (The Royal Garden) for over 1000 years ago. Just like the Vikings this geocoin wants to see as much as possible of the world. It follows equally well in the tracks of Vikings as in your tracks, whether you are just going to the next village or to the next towntown.
Adelsö (The Noble Island) is an island located about 30 km from Sweden's current royal capital Stockholm. The island has a history that stretches back to the Stone Age. Tombs of the elderly and younger Bronze Age are located here, but most of the cemeteries were built during the Iron Age, particularly during the Viking Age. Today there are approximately 750 permanent residents on the island.

Den här geocoinen startade sin resa år 2014 från Adelsö – ön där kungen över vikingastaden Birka hade sitt säte i Hovgården för över 1 000 år sedan. Adelsö är en ö som ligger cirka 30 km från Sveriges nuvarande kungliga huvudstad Stockholm. Ön har en historia som sträcker sig ända tillbaka till stenåldern. Gravar från äldre- och yngre bronsåldern finns, men de flesta gravfälten anlades under järnåldern och då främst under vikingatiden. Idag finns ungefär 750 bofasta invånare på ön.
