I wanted to find the perfect spooky location to drop this TB, and today I found it. We took a mini-road trip to check out the ruins of the St. Francis Dam disaster and the nearby caches.
"For those who do not know about this tragic event, at midnight on March 12, 1928, the St. Francis Dam failed, sending a 180-foot-high wall of water crashing down San Francisquito Canyon. Tragically, over 450 people lost their lives as the water flooded towards the Pacific Ocean south of Ventura." From what I've read, the number of lives lost was actually upwards of 600, as there were many undocumented migrant works from Mexico who worked on the dam and lived in the area (along with their families), so no one knows how many lives were really lost.
The whole area is abandoned now, with nothing but concrete slabs and re-bar marking a scar on the land where the dam once stood. Nothing but ghosts left there now, and nature reclaiming it's own.
