Our goal is to travel from our Grandpa's headstone, in Valera, Texas to our Grandma's headstone in Kokomo, Indiana, a distance of about 1,100 miles. We have never met either of our grandparents and would like to have our picture taken at each of their headstones. We have never even been to either of their graves. Along the way, we would like to have our picture taken at various interesting monuments and historical sites within cemeteries. Please help us along our way and thank you very much!
To give you some background info, my parents passed away in February of 2000 and January of 2002, before my children were born. Our family lives about three hours away from my dad's cemetery and about sixteen hours away from my mom's cemetery. For the many years that have passed since they died, I have mostly kept quiet about my parents with my kids. They have started asking a lot of questions lately, and I have decided that it is time to really start making sure that my parents live on through our memories. Today, I am taking my wife and kids out to breakfast at one of my dad's favorite restaurants, Esperanza's in Fort Worth, TX, to eat one of his favorite breakfasts. We are then travelling to his cemetery to visit his grave for the first time. I will tell stories of my paren't lives along the way and celebrate their lives instead of being sad about their deaths. We will then release this trackable with a starting point of the geocache within the cemetery where he is buried.
I purchased the Dia de los Muertos geocoin for this purpose, as Dia de los Muertos or "Day of the Dead" is celebrated in Spanish cultures by visiting the graves of deceased loved ones, celebrating their lives, and eating the foods that they love.
Please help my children make the trip up to see their grandma's grave site.
Thank you in advance for your help!
Blessings,
Joshua White
