Sid the Snake is very friendly, as long as he is kept on the move..... he may not have legs, but gets restless when kept in a backpack for too long!
To slither and slide from cache to cache is all Sid asks. He loves to be cuddled and adores all other creatures. He prefers a nice salad to anything else, so no small critters for Sid.
If taken to events, please ensure he is logged both in and out correctly as several other bugs have gone to meets and then have simply vanished, thanks.
Taken from a poem by Jeremy Lloyd . Captain Beaky's band consist of Timid Toad, Reckless Rat, Artful Owl and Batty Bat. The title track from the first album, "Captain Beaky", was released as a 7 inch single with "Wilfred the Weasel" and "Blanche" on the B-side by Polydor in 1980; it reached Number 5 in the UK pop charts. The song informs us that:
The bravest animals in the land are Captain Beaky and his band
That's Timid Toad, Reckless Rat, Artful Owl and Batty Bat
They march through the woodlands singing songs
that tell how they have righted wrongs.
According to Jonathan Rowlands, the producer of both albums, when United Kingdom disc jockey Noel Edmonds heard colleague Tony Blackburn play the record, "...he grabbed it from his turntable, played it just once, and the result was that an atomic scientist who was on secondment with the British Museum, upon hearing the show and recognising that Captain Beaky's bete-noir [sic] Hissing Sid was not all that bad, wrote in [to the BBC] proclaiming "Hissing Sid Is Innocent Okay!".
The character of Hissing Sid is a snake, mentioned in both "Captain Beaky" on the first album and "The Trial of Hissing Sid" on the second. The slogan "Hissing Sid is Innocent!" became a popular catch phrase, appearing everywhere including on badges, and on car stickers.
Sid talks with a lisp as he has done far too much singing, a quieter life as a Tb is now calling for Sid.
Sid is a sand filled snake with a bright green shiny underbelly, where as his top is a well camouflaged darker shade of green with lots of spots! He is attached to a Track-a-tag and small keyring.
Perhaps he may meet with..... a bat, an owl a rat or a toad...... Good luck Sid, safe travels!

Have held onto Sid for far too long, dropped him into a cache near a canal - hope he enjoys slithering round by the canal and gets moved again soon.
