I dropped this off in one of Maine's most famous lighthouses' parking lot. Well.....not right IN the parking lot, but in a small cache nearby. I'll upload photos later, but I wanted to tell you a bit about the lighthouse as Maine is famous for her collective love of these historical treasures. Nubble was built in 1879. There were many lighthouses in the area but local mariners finally convinced the officials that one was needed at this location. They used the haunting of the bark Isidore to convince the officials that the rocky shores around Nubble were far too dangerous to vessels. The island the structure resides on is close enough to tempt visitors and sometimes the tide recedes enough to walk across, but the lighthouse IS actually on a small island. Originally painted red with a red lantern (so it could be distinguished from other nearby lighthouse) the tower is now white. This is a little tiny cache that would only take the one coin. I was hesitant to place the coin here as others have gone missing, but hopefully it'll be picked up soon by a conscientous cacher!
