    • Bugs on the chute after jump number 2. Here are all the bugs on the Monarch 155 square foot parachute I was jumping today. Time to pack this mess back up and go again!
    • The DZ's Super Twin Otter jump plane.
    • Gold Coast Skydivers!
    • You just wouldn't believe how much fun this is! Another skydiver comes in for a landing.

The Colorado 2006 geocoin got to go with me today to the Gold Coast Skydivers dropzone in Lumberton, Mississippi to make a few jumps before hurricane Gustav blows in. We rode up to 14,500 feet in the DZ's Super Twin Otter jump plane, hopped out of the door and enjoyed over 70 seconds of freefall at 120 mph or more, deployed the 'chute around 3,000 feet, and had a 5 minute parachute ride before landing softly back at the dropzone. Repacked the chute and repeated three more times.

I was jumping with a couple of co-workers, one of whom recently returned from a tour of duty in Afghanistan. We jumped out of the plane together, flew to each other, and built some formations in the sky then did some high-speed (180 mph) skydiving by standing up with our arms out in freefall. I even got to do a coach jump with a beginning skydiver on the last jump. It was a great day at the drop zone and the Colorado geocoin was along for the ride!

All in all, the GC racked up another 22 (vertical) miles of travel. Not sure how to log that on the geocaching site. I guess I'll have to wait until Gustav leaves the area before finding a cache to put this TB into.

Now this geocoin has experienced the joy and thrill of flight and knows why the birds sing. Check out the pictures I'm uploading with this log.

    Blue skies and happy caching!
