É uma tartaruga egípcia, também conhecida como testudo de Kleinmann ou de Leith, sendo uma tartaruga terrestre. Na descrição de Lortet’s estas tartarugas são datadas de 1883,tendo sido encontradas na Líbia. Outros estudos referem vestígios anteriores em 1852. Podem ser vistas no Egipto, Líbia e Israel,no entanto a espécie encontra-se em extinção. Sendo este TB um tributo a espécie
