Current Goal

This TB has a couple of missions!

(1) First, it is trying to travel to Alcatraz Island in the beautiful San Francisco Bay.

(2) Once there, have a picture taken while attached to the Geocacher's wrist AND simultaneously attached to a cell inside the prison.

(3) Finally... return to a cache as close to Fort Sill, Oklahoma as possible.

BONUS: A picture taken at the Lighthouse on Alcatraz would be a great bonus pic. I love Lighthouses!

Abn_Stubby's Escape TO Alcatraz!

Not too long ago I went on a trip with some friends to visit Alcatraz Island in San Francisco. I was fascinated with the history of the island, the prison, and the Lighthouse. San Francisco is a wonderful city with lots of things to see and do. It seemed only natural to send my first Travel Bug back to visit "The ROCK".

Some additional goals this Travel Bug could complete would be to be photographed at various geocaches along the way and/or be photographed at any lighthouses or historic "correctional facilities" that might be encountered during the trip. PLEASE keep this travel bug away from any "active" jails or prisons. We wouldn't want it to be confiscated!
Feel free to be creative with the photos you take but, please, don't post anything that you wouldn't want your kids to see!

NOTE: These are metal, working handcuffs but a key is NOT necessary to open them. There is a small button on the side of each cuff that releases them from the wrist. There IS a key attached to the dogtag, but you won't need it.

Four years and almost eight months have passed since we "buried" this TB in the graveyard...convinced it was gone forever.

Surprise, surprise it has been recovered and brought "back to life" by some intrepid cachers in California!

I haven't been actively Geocaching in a long time...maybe this is a "sign"!

We found this one in a cache in Anadel State Park, Northern CA.
We can't see whether it actually made it to Alcatraz. All the logs are very old. So we'll see that it gets closer to Alcatraz.

According to Frankenlurch, my TB has gone missing. 😟 I hate to think someone kidnapped it on purpose...hopefully someone has it and doesn't yet realize that it's a TB or doesn't know what to do with it. I am going to mark it as missing for now unless and until I hear something more. What a shame that it made the trip so close to the goal only to go missing! 😡

The weekend trip to Alcatraz was logistically not possible. In the interest of moving this bug a bit closer I have dropped him (or her?) into the short and winding road GC30CE.
