About This Item

Geodyssey

Everyone who logged a "Discovered It" note on this travel bug has solved all of the puzzles in the Remote Challenge of the Geodyssey puzzlehunt.

The solutions to the first seven puzzles in this challenge each reference a different benchmark listed on geocaching.com, all of which are located in Broward County, Florida, near the city of Fort Lauderdale. Completing this challenge requires searching the log entries of all seven benchmarks.

This is a virtual travel bug. Please add "Discovered It" log entries only - do not retrieve it from the owner!

My. Brain. Hurts. Wait. What brain? eP stole my brain!

I could while away the hours, conferrin' with the flowers
Consultin' with the rain.
And my head I'd be scratchin' while
my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain.

I'd unravel every riddle for any individ'le,
In trouble or in pain.
With the thoughts I'd be thinkin'
I could be another Lincoln
If I only had a brain.

Well, that was fun! Those are some of the hardest puzzles I've done in my life. Doing a few in a row made my brain hurt. Obviously I need a lot more practice to be in this league. That being said, I made it! Thanks for the challenge.

What a journey!
Big thanks to fellow South Australian Cache_or_Check for pointing this out to me. When he first mentioned it I was busy trying to solve a number of local geocache puzzles. Also trying to complete our next DT loop. So I left it alone.
But two days ago I had some free time and sat down to try to work through some of these.
I was soon hooked.
One to seven were straightforward enough and some even alllowed me to take a few shortcuts. Which came back to haunt me ;-)
By the first night I was on to number 9.
Then yesterday evening I made it through to number 13. I was going to call it a night but one thing led to another and I was looking at number 14.
I worked all day today and in between activities I tried to get the right insight for 14. Tough. I found a few that "fitted" but not well. I rang CoC but in his usual enigmatic style he offered no assistance other than "I'm sure you'll get it eventually". I'm used to that.
And eventually I did. Whoot! that one resulted in an all caps text to CoC!
Tonight at home there were three more to try after dinner.
The shortcuts came back to haunt me but I revisited and filled in some gaps and was finally on to number 16.
And now I have got here about 60 hours after starting. Janet just came in to see the pretty badge. We are both pretty happy with that.
I have learnt quite a bit. Got a few ideas for new geocache puzzles.
Big thanks to Eric Peterson and all the helpers for the new knowledge, for the fun, and even for the intermittent frustration :-)
Woohoo!

Wow! This has to be the most difficulty I have had to log a Discovered for a TB. Do they have a star rating for TBs now? This one deserves ten stars! To say I have done little else for weeks, since this whole Geodyssey thing was published, is an understatement. What an evil bunch of hoops to jump through! My brain has been thoroughly stretched to the limit, but I can claim the Remote Challenge!!! 😁 Next on the agenda is to find the Local and finish the Hidden Challenge. Making good headway on both of those. Thanks eP for giving me (and FLPirate) something to ponder besides political stuff on the TV. -- The Wench

If it weren't for help along the way, this never would have been possible to log. Sometimes I got stuck on the easiest things. Okay, not sometimes. A lot. Overcomplicating is a trait I know I have and it really made things rough here every so often. I can only imagine how much effort went into putting this together, and for that, thank you.

The next question, since all of the pages reference 2016, does that mean there will be another in 2017?

I'm methylgrace's friend. Raced to puzzle 13, couldn't solve it, she finally caught up and showed me what I was missing.

Truly an amazing journey. A local puzzleheaded friend put me onto this challenge on Jan 29th, and now on March 2nd, I'm finally complete. Several fits and starts, some head-banging, some going back to resolve where I took shortcuts. A few nudges from friends in both directions, and now I can breathe a sigh of relief. In all, an elegant set of puzzles. I enjoyed them so much I ordered the book, and have some great ideas for new physical geocaches.

I solved the 101 Series locally on a vacation to Florida, so I was excited to be able to solve this from home. Worked the last few puzzles with an online friend, and had a blast! Thanks for the puzzles!
