Visited 7/22/2019 Wombatwandering took it to Dorset Series Earthcache (Kimmeridge) Southern England, United Kingdom - 5.37 miles  Visit Log

You made it back to the Coast Path proper at 6.30pm but there was still two hours of walking to go. Kimmeridge is an important fossil site and gives its name to a stage of the Jurassic. No time for fossils today though. Made it to the pub at Kingston just before they stopped serving dinner. All up, 42kms today. 🦴

Day 9 of the SWCP, West Lulworth to Kingston. We had to take a diversion for today’s stretch because the path goes through an army firing range and they use it on weekdays. There are two diversion paths, one through farm and woodland following the Hardy Way for a bit, and a shorter but awful one that involves walking on roads. We took the pretty option but after two hours, we were prevented from going any further because the Bestival music and camping festival was being set up. This meant an hour of road walking on the busy tourist road to Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove just to end up a kilometre from where we started. Then we started on the actual road diversion. It was a frightening nightmare - you travelling with my geokids don’t forget. The road diversion was busy with trucks and vans delivering things to Bestival. Horrible horrible horrible. Our feet were also aching because we are wearing hiking boots. I couldn’t even be bothered looking for this cache but given the circumstances, I’m logging you through it. 🤬

Visited 7/22/2019 Wombatwandering took it to Stair Hole EarthCache Southern England, United Kingdom - 4.05 miles  Visit Log

You stayed the night in the cute thatched roof village of West Lulworth but I took you on an early morning stroll back down to beautiful Lulworth Cove and Stair Hole, some coastal formations dust along the South West Coast Path from Durdle Door. It’s very misty today so the jewel-like colours in the water are not showing but there’s no one here so we could enjoy it in private. This whole area is really fantastic. ☁️

Visited 7/21/2019 Wombatwandering took it to Dorset Series Earthcache (Durdle Door) Southern England, United Kingdom - 3 miles  Visit Log

A lovely warm day so a swim through beautiful Durdle Door sea arch was a must. CuteOtter has been here in cooler weather and had the place to herself but there were hundreds of people here today. Bit different to the usually solitary path. 🏊‍♀️

Visited 7/21/2019 Wombatwandering took it to Bear Hunt #3 Southern England, United Kingdom - 5.17 miles  Visit Log

Day 8 on the SWCP, Weymouth to West Lulworth. The day started off overcast but was lovely again by the time we left the town behind us. Met a lovely Bassett hound who slobbered all over my GPS. 🐶

Visited 7/20/2019 Wombatwandering took it to Esplanade Southern England, United Kingdom - 22.82 miles  Visit Log

That train took you to Weymouth, Dorset, and back to the the South West Coast Path at last. You enjoyed fish and chips on the beach to celebrate. 🐟

Visited 7/20/2019 Wombatwandering took it to SideTracked - Yeovil Junction South West England, United Kingdom - 42.64 miles  Visit Log

And the next train took you to Yeovil Junction where a Cache was hiding protected by nettles. 🛤

Visited 7/20/2019 Wombatwandering took it to SideTracked - Exeter St David's South West England, United Kingdom - 20.48 miles  Visit Log

The train took us to Exeter. While walking the South West Coast Path, we’ve had to go through here or change trains here many times. This is the last. And it’s also our last stop in Devon. Next train.... 🚆

Visited 7/20/2019 Wombatwandering took it to REALLY SideTracked - Queens Park South West England, United Kingdom - 5.9 miles  Visit Log

The bus took us to Paignton, seemingly the home of beachside casinos. Time for a train...... 🎰

Visited 7/20/2019 Wombatwandering took it to Brixham Road South West England, United Kingdom - .36 miles  Visit Log

Day 7 - Dartmouth to Weymouth but by public transport not legs. We’ve already walked this bit of the Coast Path. First we had to brave a quick rain shower and catch a ferry across the Dart to Kingswear and then get a bus. ⛴
