Current Goal

Forged Third was created at a historical site first peopled by settlers from Scotland, some from the Orkney Islands. Eventually, Forged Third would like to go to Scotland, to the Orkney Islands. It would like to meet its two brothers in GCTG59 "An Orkney View". (N 58° 59.294 W 003° 01.562). This is a tall order, so anywhere you can move it to help its journey is most welcome!

UPDATE!
It has been seven and a half years of journeying for Forged Third! I think it is time to come home! I would love to have it come home to Winnipeg, Manitoba, and be placed in any cache there for retrieval by the owner.
Of course, if it traveled a bit still before that happened, I wouldn't object! :)

About This Item

Forged Legacy - the set

This bug is one in a set of three. See Forged First (TB11A8C) and Forged Second (TB11G4E). This travel bug, along with its two brothers, was forged in the blacksmith's shop at Lower Fort Garry National Historic Site of Canada. Erected in 1831 by George Simpson, the Overseas Governor of the Hudson's Bay Company, Lower Fort Garry was used through the mid-19th century as a transshipment depot for the booming fur trade in the area. After the fur trade decline of the 1870s, Lower Fort Garry was used for many government purposes. It was the site of the signing of Indian treaty Number One as well as the first western training site of the North West Mounted Police. Today, Lower Fort Garry is open through the summer months to visitors. Historical interpreters tell the tale of the Fort in 1850s character and costume. In the period accurate blacksmith's shop, these Travel Bugs were forged with tools and equipment from the 1850s by one of the costumed interpreters, the owner of this bug.
