Help return fireflies to New Orleans.
Hitchhikers and pictures are welcome
When I was I kid I went to Disneyland and rode the (pre movie) Pirates of the Carribean. The thing that stuck in my mind was riding through the New Orleans bayou with folks dining on one side and ships with cannons on the other. There were these lilting green lights everywhere. As a California kid I didn't know what they were. My parents explained they were fireflies. I wanted to see the fireflies in the moss covered oaks for real.
Later in life I was fortunate enough to move to New Orleans. And I found out there haven't actually been fireflies there in a good wile. Some folks blame light intrusion, but there aren't any fireflies down on the bayou either. Some blame encroachment on their habitats. Again, there should still be fireflies out of the city. Then there's the issue of spraying for mosquitoes. It is claimed the sparys also kill fireflies. Plausible, I suppose.
Regardless, I want to bring fireflies back to New Orleans. Can you help?
Will send this one on a 4000 mile trip
