Bubo loves to spread his wings and travel and naturally prefers the northern climates. Don't hang on to him for very long - he is not a collectible - so please keep him moving. He loves to have his picture taken while on his travels.
The snowy owl (Bubo scandiacus) is a large, white owl of the typical owl family. Snowy owls are native to Arctic regions in North America and Eurasia. Younger snowy owls start with darker plumage, which turns lighter as they get older. Males are almost all white, while females have more flecks of gray plumage.
Two years ago there were snowy owls being spotted in the Perth County area of southern Ontario. We went out for a drive and after a couple of hours of seeing only hawks and then eagles we started heading back home to Kitchener. Then we spotted a snowy owl in a tree along Highway 86 near the community of Dorking. She stayed around for almost 10 minutes - long enough to take lots of pictures of her.
