To visit as much of Canada, United States and Mexico as possible!
The Monarch Butterfly (Danaus plexippus) is one of North America's most iconic butterfly species. Aside from their breathtaking aesthetic beauty, the monarch logs a lot of miles in its lifetime. It's not uncommon for the monarch to migrate from as far as Canada to the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve in south-central Mexico. That's a lot of traveling!
The stage of the monarch you see is the caterpillar's egg laying stage, which eventually culminates in the beautiful metamorphosis from chrysalis to butterfly.
Our goal ultimately would be to see the bug make its way to the reserve in Mexico, but we’d also be happy to see this monarch “fly” to as many caches as possible!
Thanks for discovering or moving me along!
