About This Item

Unintentional injury is the leading cause of death for Americans ages one through thirty-four. The number of people who are injured & killed in motor vehicle collisions alone is the equivalent of a medium-sized plane crash EVERY day!

This "Bug" is dedicated to promoting safety. Before moving on, please upload a picture of it with some form of safety education /practice in progress.

Some examples include:

  • A CPR class

  • An Exit Drill In The Home (E.D.I.T.H.)

  • "Child Proofing" a home (i.e. cabinet/drawer locks, safety gates, electrical outlet covers, etc.)

  • A fire extinguisher class/drill

  • Use a helmet while biking/skating, etc.

  • A Driver's Education course

  • An Automatic External Defibrillator (A.E.D.) orientation

  • Testing your smoke detectors

  • Establishing a "Defensible Space" against fire using a Fuel Modification Plan

  • An Every 15 Minutes program (anti-drinking & driving)

  • Practicing "Stop, Drop & Roll" (what to do if your clothes catch fire)

  • A visit to a fire station

The United States loses 90,000 people each year to unintentional injury. An additional 31 million visit an emergency department. There is no such thing as an "accident" - INJURY CAN BE PREVENTED! Safety is everyone's responsibility so please take a moment to learn and/or practice prevention.
