A-lure-ing Stumpy seeks to visit fishing spots the world over, to seek out other fishing geocachers and caches in fishy locations. He is happy to stop over in other caches along the way. Photos of A-lure-ing Stumpy in fishy spots and with fish caught would be good too, maybe even your local tackle shop?? Please log a waypoint with photos.
If he could visit my other fishing cache, "Fishing around for a cache" (GCHP62)in Merimbula at some point in his travels that would be really cool, he's been there before with his friends in my tackle box. He'd like that. DJ
JJ's Stumpjumper lures come from Cobram in Victoria originally and are now mass produced in 5 sizes and a range of probably 50 or so colours to meet the demand, which could not be sustained if the business remained a cottage industry I guess. They are an extremely popular lure for Murray Cod, one of the worlds largest freshwater sport fish growing to over a metre in length and as much as 40kg (80lb). They are also used for Yellowbelly (Golden Perch) and many other species but cod and yellas are the main fish I use them for. This particular Stumpjumper came in to my hands when I found it on the banks of the Goulburn River near "Snakeyland", a local cache here in Shepparton while out with geohound Baxter. He had obviously been lost for some time as his trebles were all rusty. I retrieved him and kept him for a while but he insists he was happier when he was travelling so I am releasing him again. These lures are frequently lost in snaggy inland rivers as the fish live in the snags, so if you aren't losing the odd lure you won't catch fish either. I hope he enjoys his travel seeking fish and fishy spots and any other caches along the way. I have posted some pics of A-lure-ing Stumpy saying good bye to his friends, the occupants of my tackle box, I'll also post a pic of my pet cod - very small and growing fast. Happy fishing, djcache
