I know its fun to hear about your TB adventures and visits, so here is a good one...ending today with a "dropped" in a favorite cache.
Add-a-key came into my possession last Spring, creeping carefully along a steep rocky bank above a. Little stream of an old Tunnel. I grabbed it to move along, but life had other plans for me. Instead, a couple of weeks later while visiting Barkhamsted, CT area, I busted my ankle and tore, stretched, bruised all the ligaments and tendons on bothsides, top, bottom and all the way to my knee. This isn't a simple not weight bearing for a week and a cast for 6-8 wks...this is non weight bearing for a few months, and a cast/ space boot for 9 1/2 months. Needless to say, I wasn't a "happy cacher".
I took a few trips, hitching along with someone who could DRiVE and brought the keys and another TB with me..to Washington D.C., Maryland, FLORIDA, and around CT, I was able to resume a little caching, but mostly only quick P & G's. When I got antsy, I did foolishly attempt a cache or 2 in more difficult locations. Which I'm just grateful NOW, that I ok returned with no extra breaks! Dumb!!
I am finally out of the cast, boot & P/T, though not entirely healed. So much weakness. Today on this beautiful MEMORIAL DAY, in the rural, forests of Newtown, Ct. (Yes..THAT Newtown)..I decided to send your TB ,laden with keys, on another adventure. So I dropped them in an old favorite and clever cache..Al's Trail #56. Ok, I won't lie, I haven't done Als trail yet, just this last one which is quick and near to home. This trail is over 10 miles long and stretches from one end of Newtown to the other end of "Sandy Hook, Ct." For many folks trying to deal with the horrific loss of our little ones, teachers, friends and loved ones 2 years ago at the Elementary School Shootings, this trail is a place of healing energy and peaceful, prayerful moments..with others or alone. These keys have been to both ends, and a few close visitss in the middle, but I haven't logged caches just yet..I think its time. SO.. on its final journey in my hand..carefully walking along dodgy narrow paths above the rushing stream...I slipped, caught myself, and accidntly tossed the keys in the stream below!! The water is cccccooold in CT! I can scale the side of the steep banks like a limping mountain goat now; down I wentsneakers, socks, and up to my 'shorts' in icy cold water with a mucky bottom! Fished around and located your TB, SHOOK OFF LIKE A Dawggg, and climbed back up to the trail to go to Al's # 56. Your Add-a-key has a few new additional keys and one blue bottle holder. Happy travels my heavy companion! And thank you for the adventures!!
