About This Item

The Valve

This is one of the 16 valves from the original engine of my Mazda MX-5. The engine blew up when the water line came loose from the turbo which I'd added to the car, which caused the turbo to overheat, which boiled the engine oil... you can guess the rest.

Like almost everything else in the engine (except for the head gasket - the one part which is designed to fail), this valve is bent out of shape, although you can't see that with the naked eye.

Wasn't quite sure what is was that I had found next to the aqueduct - hubby is a one time tractor mechanic so I will see what he makes of it. Will find a suitable place to further educate people on mechanics.

My husband isn't interested in caching but he's very interested in cars. I will test his knowledge with this one. Thanks for the education. I will take it back to England with me on Friday and find a nice cache for it there.
