The original coin was too nice for someone to resist stealing, so they did. I'm sorry you didn't find it. But you did find a cool ProxyCoin (www.GxProxy.com) that wants to travel the country and continue the mission as stated below.
There may not be a lot of WW2 veterans out there caching, but the rest of us must remember and appreciate the fact that if they hadn't gone off and done what they did, we would not be able to do the things we take for granted today, like Geo-caching. Pass this coin around the country and if you can, show it to a WW II Veteran, with thanks! BUT, please don't hoard it and put it in a bragging binder. It is not your property! Thanks.
The Original was handsome brass 1 5/8" with colored enamel ribbons.
The Replacement coin is copper colored 1 3/4"
