DECEMBER 17 1903 THE WRIGHT FLYER LIFTS INTO THE AIR PILOTED BY ORVILLE WRIGHT,WHILST HIS BROTHER WILBER LOOKS ON.THE FLIGHT LASTED ONLY 12 SECONDS AND COVERED A DISTANCE OF JUST 121 FEET (37m). IT IS THE FIRST POWERED,HEAVIER-THAN-AIR FLIGHT.
