From one local scout leader to another!
I have been involved in scouting -off and on - since I was 8 (now 42).
Highlights - being staked out at camp for a reason that now eludes me; sitting round the camp fire at Downe camp site, singing a variety of classic campfire songs and drinking 'Baltic lager - (one can per scout, given to us by the leaders) imagine doing that nowadays!!; Night kajaking in Scotland; coming third in the first night of the Gurkha challenge when I was group leader (our ranking fell somewhat on day two); running my first grand howl as a leader; seeing a cub that started with me leaving to go to explorers (he is coming back as a young leader for cubs in the new year); the dishevelled, slightly grubby but still smiling faces on scout at the end of camp; and so on............................
I will find somewhere suitable to relocate this one.
