Goal: Travel from cache to cache in search of BRAAAAINS. Visit Geocaching events. Spread the plague. Please take photos!
Meet Landon, patient # 238 in our ongoing study of the spread of the zombie plague via geocaching. Landon was a taxi driver from London whose parents intended to name him after London but spelled it wrong on his birth certificate. Landon was known to quote Dr. Who to his customers as he drove them around the capital. Landon loved sticky toffee pudding and meat fruit, separately of course. Landon thought he was a great singer when in fact he was utterly tone deaf, and he thought he was a great dancer when in fact people moved out of his way for fear of injury. Landon worked to support his travel habit, as he often traveled the globe going to geocaching mega events, ComicCons, and Dr. Who conventions.
We believe Landon contracted the zombie plague from patient # 99, Henry. We know that Henry was a social dude who loved geocaching events. We recently discovered that Henry had a secret online blog where he revealed that he was a diehard “Whovian.” We know from the blog that Henry attended the Dr. Who convention in Chicago in hopes of extending his Dr. Who pathtag collection. Our research revealed that Landon also attended the Dr. Who convention. We know from text message records that a woman dressed as one of Dr. Who's companions convinced Landon to join her in a geocaching flash mob coordinated by Henry, and although he unknowingly knocked some Whovians over, Landon seemed to enjoy himself. Videos posted to Henry’s blog show Henry wiping his runny nose with his hand, then grabbing hands with Landon and other dancers as they performed their choreographed dance moves. Within a few days of the convention, Landon and other Whovians began to show symptoms of the plague.
This travel bug is part of a larger study to take a closer look at how the zombie plague might propagate if the primary vector for spreading the disease was geocaching. Please visit the following website for further details, and a visualization of how the disease has propagated thus far based on the movement and discovery of this and other infected Zombie travel bugs:
