About This Item

Travelbib

Congratulations!! You found the one and only unique TRAVELBIB

How did he get his name?

Introduced at the Lyon Exhibition of 1894 where the Michelin brothers had a stand, Bibendum is one of the world's oldest trademarks. The name originated from the slogan Nunc est bibendum (Now is the time to drink)

André Michelin met French cartoonist Marius Rossillon, popularly known as O'Galop, who showed him a rejected image he had created for a Munich brewery — a large, regal figure holding a huge glass of beer and quoting Horace's phrase "Nunc est bibendum". André immediately suggested replacing the man with a figure made from tyres drinking a glass filled with rubbish (Spikes, glass etc). Something his tires would easily consume without puncture.

Thus O'Galop transformed the earlier image into Michelin's symbol. Today, Bibendum is one of the world's most recognised trademarks, representing Michelin in over 150 countries.

NUNC EST BIBENDUM (No its time to drink)

LE PNEU MICHELIN BOIT LÓBSTACLE (The Michelin Tire drinks all obstacles)

People who saw the image and did not speak Latin, mistakenly thought the name of the figure was Bibandum. And so he was born!

All over our travels, every one we encounter knows Michelin.... and the Michelin man.

This one is sneakily hidden on my car. And... you managed to find me.

Tell me where you saw me, and log me on this page.

Greetings

Dunaghiri
