About This Item

MyotisNormally Myotis would be hanging out in a cave with the rest of his bat friends but this year he's undertaking an east to west migration as part of the 2004 Great Canadian Coast to Coast TB Race.

Well the race is over and Myotis has decided to travel around and explore the world. Right now Myotis is really enjoying touring Australia. Please help this little critter visit as many caches as possible.

This travel bug is named after Canada's most common bat Myotis lucifugus the little brown bat.

Some interesting facts about bats:
- bats have excellent eyesight
- bats consume 30 to 50 percent of their body weight in insects each night
- Myotis lucifugus has about the same mass as two nickels and a dime
- females live together in nursery colonies of several hundred individuals during the summer

We found this lonely little bat resting in the Jarrah Forest just outside of Perth Western Australia. We will move him to another cache soon :)

    • Just hanging out in the Jarrah forest. Seeing as this is the first travel bug we have ever come across, we thought it would be nice to take some pics of him around Perth, Western Australia. We will send him on his way after he has seen the sights. ENJOY!!
    • We are here... at the weir. We were geocaching in the area and took Myotis to the Mundaring Weir. The weir supplies water to the goldfields region (500km away) via the "Golden Pipeline" built by CY O'Connor.
    • Enjoying the view!! This is the Mundaring Weir.
