    Speedy Jet is off on another transoceanic adventure. After being plucked from a nearly deserted field in eastern England, Speedy will soon be off to Heathrow, and on to Ottawa Canada! Should be leaving in just a few days. Stay tuned… hopefully Speedy will have a safe landing on the other side of the pond.

    Speedy is on the nose of a Jaguar, a venerable ground attack aircraft that has been in service for over 30 years. Constantly upgraded, it has been one of the first "systems" to be deployed to trouble spots.

    It was due to operate from Turkey during the last Gulf War but never went in the end as Turkey pulled back its support.

    Now the aircraft is due to be retired in 2 years (me too!) when RAF Coltishall closes.

    The end of an era...

    • Speedy gets a lift... ...while visiting Royal Air Force Coltishall, a military airbase that was most famous during WWII. The base is due to finally close in Dec 06 so this is a timely visit by Speedy.

    Speedy Jet has been hi-jacked by the Royal Air Force and is being forced to divert to a military airbase, RAF Coltishall in Norfolk.

    RAF Coltishall is one of the oldest RAF bases, famous in WWII as one of the most prominent fighter bases defending the UK during the Battle of Britain.
