Current Goal

Please take this bug only if you'll fulfill its mission including the log entry of your 3 acts of kindness. It feels like a way of keeping his spirit alive and those rememberances mean a lot to me and my family... Thanks! This bug is intended memorialize my brother, Kip Barker, by providing good karma to those who carry it. To receive this karma the holder must perform three acts of kindness prior to placing it in the next cache. (Merely moving the travel bug simply can't be one of them...)Your log entry must brag of your three deeds. True to the laws of karma, you will be repaid. The bug will become more powerful over time so take good care of it...my brother will be watching... Thank you for your acts of kindness in my brother's memory. You are welcome to log acts even if you don't have the TB--we all know that it never hurts to invite good karma to oneself. It also does my heart good to read of another's thoughtfulness in memory of a stranger to them. The tracking no. is: 446553

About This Item

This is a canoe made of birch bark from a tree on my family's property in northern Minnesota. As children we made them and this one provided my hands something to do while my heart was too heavy for much else. Initially I had a destination and date in mind. But in the midst of grieving the loss of my brother, I realize that planning that far in advanced makes me uneasy right now. Instead, I wish for this bug to do what I would like to do right now--shed the present, have an adventure, travel the world, and return to Olympia, Washington, fit and healthy in 3-4 years. Places I would love for it to see and, if possible, see photos of it or you holding Kip's name at these spots: the Taj Mahal in India, the Andes Mountains; Copenhagen, Denmark; an ancient Buddha in China; the Holy Land, the seven wonders of the world; anywhere with a view in South Africa; A Tuscany vineyard; Hawaiian Paradise; the Great Wall; the Sogn Fjord in Norway; near a true blue, old as the hills inukshuk; Dunbar Castle ruins in Scotland (can you find it?)..any places that may represent peace or escape to you for whatever reason... Someone asked if it is acceptable to me for anyone to post a note with three deeds completed in Kip's memory even if they do not have the bug. That is so touching and thoughtful and I would be absolutely grateful for such a wonderful human gesture. The answer is a big YES! Spread the word, our world can always use more kindness. Let me know if you need the "secret number code" in order to post and feel free to tell others.

They will come back—come back again, as long as the Red Earth rolls.

Stumbled upon this after picking up TB Knight Templar, a knight piece from Let The games Begin cache-gctg4c.This is an awesome idea. 1) Suprised the boyfriend's sister with jamaican beef patties because she's never had. 2) Agreed to watch my best friend's youngest daughter for 3 days this weekend coming(my only weekend off with the boyfriend)while she moves boxes from FL to GA. 3)Agreed to donate $30 a month to support a little girl in ecuador.

My wife and I paid a visit to Niagara Falls this evening with Kip in tow. We took the TB to the Horseshoe Falls area of Niagara Falls, also known as the "Canadian Falls". This area is by far the most beautiful portion on Niagara Falls. Despite growing up in WNY and coming here dozens and dozens of times over the years, we never ever get sick of this natural wonder. Hope you enjoy the pictures. We are considering this our 3rd random act and will move the TB along soon. Glad we could help!

The idea of this TB reaching Niagra Falls is a thrill for me. If anyone cares to post of photo of it in the places it travels, we'd love it! Hint, hint...Thanks, everyone, for keeping it going in the spirit in which it was sent!

2nd act of kindness happened today. Stopped by a charity car wash while i was out and about yesterday. The proceeds were to support a local high school swim team. It was raining all day and i really didn't need my car washed, but the kids looked pretty bummed because of the weather. So I decided to stop.

Also, just realized that this TB wants to see the seven natural wonders of the world. It just so happens that we live about 15 minutes from Niagara Falls.... :)
