Buster Bunny & Wolfit Down have been friends for a while now.
Buster used to live with a little boy named Joe. Joe loved his pet rabbit and looked after him well. However, Joe had to go to school each day and Buster would miss him dreadfully. He would feel quite lonely. He longed for the weekends when Joe could spend more time with him.
One sunny Wednesday, Buster hit upon a plan. He decided to smuggle himself inside Joe's backpack so that he could travel to school and spend all day with him. However, this was no ordinary school day: Joe's class was going on a trip to the zoo.
Unbeknown to Joe, Buster bounced along inside Joe's backpack as he walked to school, as he boarded the coach, as the coach set off through the school gates, along the high street, onto the bypass and hurtling down the motorway. Buster had never travelled so far or so fast.
Eventually, the coach ground to a halt in the gravelly car park of the zoo. Joe was excited. Buster was relieved. (He had been feeling a bit travel sick).
As Joe and his school friends explored the zoo, Buster could hear all sorts of noises and smell all sorts of odours he had never before encountered. He couldn't see much inside the darkness of the backpack though, so he was very glad to hear the teacher announce that it was time to stop for lunch. Buster knew that Joe would soon be taking his tupperware box full of goodies (minus a small nibble of the apple) out of his backpack. As soon as Joe opened his backpack to get his packed lunch, Buster leapt out.
Now, rabbits can jump quite high but even Buster was surprised at just how high and how far he leapt in his excitement. Unfortunately, he leapt right into the wolves' enclosure! Chaos ensued. A pack of wolves descended upon Buster and surrounded him, baying and snapping at him ... All except one wolf who stood back, listening to Joe's cries of anguish and watching the silent plea for help in Buster's startled eyes.
Wolfit Down was a noble wolf, a bit of a lone wolf but, in his day, a mighty leader of the pack. He barked at his fellow wolves, commanding them to leave Buster alone and not to harm him. Thankfully, the other wolves obeyed.
As the pack of wolves fell silent and slowly drifted away, Wolfit calmly strolled over to Buster, licked him gently on the top of his head and offered to give him a lift back over to Joe's side of the enclosure fence.
The day didn't end there, though, as the other wolves were not best pleased to have been stopped in their tracks by Wolfit. In fact, they were quite annoyed to have missed out on a free meal. They shunned Wolfit and told him that he was no longer welcome in the pack.
Wolfit wasn't that bothered. He had seen that there was a chance to make new friends on the outside of the enclosure, so he asked Joe and Buster if he could join up with them. Joe wasn't too sure that his Mum and Dad, or his school teacher, would welcome a wolf into their midst but he suggested that Wolfit and Buster might like to go on a trip together. The two new friends were delighted with the idea and started to make travel plans. Before they left on their new adventure, Joe gave Wolfit his address and said to be sure to come back and tell him all about the places they had been and the fun they'd had.
Now Buster and Wolfit would love to travel the world together and build memories.
They love having their picture taken, too, and often look at the pictures on here to remember all the lovely places and Caches they have visited ...
