Travel the globe for the next year. This TB is in a race with 23 other ducks to see who can travel the most miles in one year.
“Flotilla of drifting rubber duckies at sea since 1992.”
Quackers saw the above headline in the newspaper and was intrigued by it. As she read the article by Peter Ford of the Christian Science Monitor, she became fascinated. “Theirs is an epic tale of resilience and pluck, a seafarer’s yarn of high-seas adventure that has seen them brave some of the world’s wildest waters in their 11 year odyssey from the Pacific Ocean toward landfall in Europe...The plastic ducks were part of a consignment of 29,000 bathtub toys that ended up in the Pacific when a container ship lost some of its deck cargo in heavy seas.” Check out this web site to learn more about their odyssey (visit link)
These ducks inspired Quackers to send out a “flotilla” of rubber duckie travel bugs to see what adventures they have for the next year. So, for Christmas 2003, everyone in the family received their own duckie travel bug. The goal for the ducks are to travel as far as possible in one year. Next Christmas a date for a family reunion will be set and the travel bugs will head for the reunion.
Quackers is crazy about geocaching and loves to share the sport with others. The family should have fun this year watching the adventures their ducks have.
