The mission of the Blue Goose is to "migrate" around the country visiting National Wildlife Refuge's.
The Blue Goose travel bug has been established to help celebrate the 100th anniversary of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's National Wildlife Refuge System. Although this TB is being launched one year late of the anniversary (1903-2003), it is being sent off to help honor the refuge system's first 100 years. The Blue Goose started his migration at the DeSoto Bend National Wildlife Refuge near Blair, NE. His direction of departure from his home refuge is entirely up to the first geocachers that retrieve him and get him started on his way. However, he would prefer to "migrate" around the southern U.S. during the winter, and then "migrate" to northern refuges in the summer. That way he can Keep on Flyin' and won't have to worry about getting snowbound in the winter. Also, the Blue Goose would REALLY like it if you would take a picture of him at each refuge entrance sign and post the picture on his travel bug page so his owners can see where he's been. It is an ambitious goal of the Blue Goose to visit all 540 National Wildlife Refuges scattered across every state in the U.S. But with so many, a new refuge to visit should never be far from his last resting place (cache). Thanks to everyone for assisting his migration.
