Current Goal

Geocaching is all about the hide and seek so here’s a little more hide and seek fun for you …

This Conservation Connection (coin's mission) is to find sustainable palm oil in every day products.  Many of these products can be found in your own home! Ever eat a Girl Scout Cookie? Use soap? Eat Ice cream? Use Lipstick? Then, you may have used palm oil.

Palm oil is not the conservation issue; the way it is harvested is the concern. The plantations that harvest the palm oil can destroy the habitats of endangered species and other plants and animals in those environments. The simple conservation action you can take is to explore and purchase certified sustainable palm oil products.

Please post pictures with the coin (or post comments with the product name(s) that you found) with a sustainable palm oil product (s) before dropping it in the next cache. If you need ideas, would like to see the sustainable palm oil labels, or are unsure what palm oil is please visit the "get involved" section of my website at:

Thanks for look at orangutan friendly products!

About This Item

My Custom Coin!

This Geocoin is part of a series of conservation themed trackable missions for a school project. Please put them in geocaches that are visited frequently whenever possible.

A survey link will be posted shortly related to the coin's missions. Check back here to participate.

As part of my graduation requirements I am required to do a 'Master Plan' intended to make an ongoing impact in my community and around the world with a focus in sustainability, stewardship, conservation, and  environmental awareness tying in the coursework and experiences from the program to the project. These coins are part of that project.

Comments and posts for this coin maybe used in a presentation for my project or in other settings. Please do not post if you are not comfortable being a part of the project.  Please feel free to visit my website for more information on the mission, my project or conservation: http://gscampstar.wix.com/thenatureconnection
