The mission of this Travel Bug is to travel to caches around the world and to create awareness for the disease called Dystonia. The disease is relatively unknown even within the medical community and is usually mis-diagnosed. People afflicted, typically need to see multiple doctors before getting the correct diagnosis. Additionally, those affected suffer from social anxiety and depression.
Dystonia is a movement disorder in which a person's muscles contract uncontrollably. The contraction causes the affected body part to twist involuntarily, resulting in repetitive movements or abnormal postures. Dystonia can affect one muscle, a muscle group, or the entire body.
There is no cure, but the symptons can be controlled in many cases with medication and Botox injections.
