Twilight118: American Roadhouse is approaching the two year anniversary, May 13th. During this past year the surviving contestants didn’t achieve any of the destinations, but certainly traveled a lot. Now that the weather is improving, perhaps we will see these remaining contest contenders reach a few more intended caches.
Contest update…
Cannon Pike went missing only three months into the race. While it’s highly unlikely he will turn up after two years, I’m still thinking positively. Ironically, the only two caches Cannon Pike was listed as reaching have both been archived. Last seen in Freehold, NJ @ Cache: GC50GK2
Fyfe- Oh the irony! He had a good run; lasted about 15 months into the race. At the end of August 2017 he arrived at his 55th destination (55 is also his car number!) and disappeared. Three weeks had passed before the next cacher (premium member) found the cache: GC1PGXB I reached out to him and sadly he said Fyfe was already missing. Perhaps he will turn up one day…?
Carlos Rizzo arrived at destination 310, cache GC28FNF, on the west coast of Florida and disappeared. However there’s a bit of a mystery surrounding this cache. I reached out to the owner to check the cache, but he informed me the cache is just a small magnet key holder type of cache and Carlos Rizzo wouldn’t fit. So I contacted the geocacher who had last had Carlos to at least clarify this was indeed the cache he left him. As of today, May 7th, I have not had a reply. Like the other missing contestants I’m optimistic he will return to the race.
Jack Mallet is our current leader, having achieved 3 of the intended destinations… however, he’s way off course. Jack made his way from New Jersey to California and along the way achieved the three intended destinations. Then in California he came into contact this someone who took him to China! He spent three weeks sitting in one cache in China before heading west. Jack arrived in Germany and bounced around in the northern parts for three weeks. His travels then took him to Denmark, Sweden, Lithuania, and Finland before returning to New York. Finally back in the USA and in a state where he needed another destination, but it turns out Great Brittan was calling his name. After only five days in NYC, Jack was heading overseas again. After five and a half months, he is still bouncing around Scotland. While he is our current leader, I fear he may not be a contender for winning as there are two other racers close to achieving another intended destination and thus tying Jack for the lead position.
Pamela Stock is on the move and is currently in Colorado. Since the beginning of 2018, she’s made a steady trek westward. With two intended destinations under her belt and the currently contest leader out of the country, she’s poised to make a big move and tie for first place. Big Shout out- At the end of Jan 2018, Pamela met up with geocacher “Old Ranger”. He added check list of states and included the mission. Thank you!
Honey Clover has re-entered the race! In July of 2017 she achieved her second destination in Salt Lake City, Utah and then disappeared for six months. In February Honey popped up in Iowa and was recently seen still in the cache. She’s currently tied for second place with achieving two intended destinations. The current contest leader is way off course and as a result, Honey is poised to tie for first place with her next arrival at one of the remaining intended destinations.
Good luck racers!
