Mid size coin with heft. 1.5 inches 3 mm tthick chrome. Available in other metal colors. The front of this coin has bold 3-D with a raised outline of Germany. There is a lower area with green matte enamel in the shape of a coat of arms. There is one section of Germany that is highlighted in red matte enamel. The background of the medallion is done in white and green enamel. The rim has inscription that reads: "Geocaching In Sachsen" and "Wir Sind Das Volk!" done in green enamel. There are two green stars and chevrons on the rim. The reverse is a standard one for the series of Regions of German coins. It is high shine with a brown matte enamel chest. The chest has a commercial "G" " There is a raised prompt for custom engraving. The rim has raised script that reads: "Ken Versteck Bleiet Unentdeckt" and "Geocaching Region Deutschland". Nice coin.
Info on coin: This Geocoin is part of a series initiated by the Geocaching Team TravelingViking. The coins of the series series have a common back side on which a Cacher's (team) name can be engraved in the blank space. The text on the coin roughly translates to 'no hide remains hidden'.
For the front sides local cachers came together to define their regions and the design used. Where the borders of a region are was left to the locals to decide. Some chose a region to be a city, a group of counties/districts or a federal state.
This second set of publicly available coins consists of five coins in polished chrome. These are the regions of Aachen, Hannover, Ruhrgebiet, Sachsen and Schw?bische Alb.
The coin was created during the "Regions of Germany" project (between the beginning of December 2005 and April 2006), which was led by the TravelingViking team. With this project, "Regional Groups of Geocachers in Germany" were helped to create their own geocoins.
TravelingViking, as the initiator of this project, ensured the dialogue with Groundspeak, financed 1000 tracking codes and its own icon. However, he set certain conditions for this:
1) All geocoins of the participating 15 regions have a common back, but the front can be individually designed by the cacher group participating in the project.
2) All coins are 38 mm in size, 3 mm thick and were minted in antique silver and partly polished chrome, at least one in black nickel.
3) Each participating region had to purchase at least 100 coins.
The "Sachsen-Coin" can be used to understand the decision-making process from the idea to the finished coin very well, as the whole process can still be read on the pages of the geoclub.de forum. At the beginning of December 2005, El_Rolfo, a geocacher who has been very active in Saxony since 2002, informed about the project and asked whether there was interest in a regional coin in the regional cacher community. In the first few days after that, there were very few reactions, but on December 20, chrischu from TEAM RandomWalk contacted them with the offer to "let off steam artistically on a geocoin for Saxony".
At the beginning of January, he presented his designs in the Forum, which were acclaimed. Now there was a discussion that developed quickly over 14 days about lettering variants, the choice of colors, the order numbers.
At the end of January, more than 120 Saxony coins were registered for production. On July 16, 2006, TEAM RandomWalk activated their #1 Saxony - Regions of Germany Geocoin.

So many of my trackables have been muggled that I only release new GCs as virtuals. If you do not approve, please leave it in the cache for a cacher who understands. Thanks. MR

Thanks to the 2023 Christmas Day blizzard my daughter, JMVonFange, was delayed in heading home so we spent the bonus time together comparing our caching statistics including trackables discovered and looking through our geocaching pictures. JM has discovered significantly more trackables that I have mainly because while we were staying home during the pandemic she spent time online and spotted numerous TBs that were being shared virtually. After looking at the TB page for each TB that she discovered that I didn't, I found that a number of TB Codes necessary to discover the trackable were included on the TB Page itself or intentionally or as a spoiler in the photo gallery. Sometimes there was an attempt to obsure or hide the TB Code that was not entirely successful making it fairly easy to determine the TB Code needed to discover the travel bug.
