About This Item

Moose61's Greetings from Europe

The coin is one of the coins of the series "Regions of Germany" and is an "Oecher Cacher Treff" coin. The cacher name "Moose61" is engraved in the back of the coin to identify the owner.

The Regions of Germany series coins is a series to produce coins for a low cost, but still allow cachers to enter their own idea's into the coin. At this moment 15 different front sites of these coins have been designed and produced. The back site is the same for all coins and has an area where the name of the owner is engraved.

The front site of the coin is the "Klenkes" greeting sign. It's an old sign of recognition for the people of the region of Aachen. The finger of the right hand is lifter a little and the other fingers are kept like you hold a needle. The origen of the sign lies in the past, when there were a lot of fabric facturies in the Aachen region. In those days there were also a lot of needle facturies. The ladies forking in the facturies used their little finger of the right hand to check and sort the needles. Later the facturies were closed, but the sign did remain.
Even far from home the sign is used. When somebody thinks he regcognizes an other person from Aachen the Klenkes greeting is used.

The bottom line reads "Spiel ohne Grenzen", which is the German translation of "Game without borders".

I specially picked this coin so send to the other site of the ocean as a greeting to all fellow cachers in the US and Canada!

The owner is a Dutchman living in the Netherlands close to the German border. It's a great area to search for caches at both sites of the border. The Oecher Cacher Treff (caching region of Aachen) covers both sites of the border.
