About This Item

Aachen-Coin.jpg

The Klenkes is the sign of the inhabitants of Aachen. It means the spreaded small finger of the right hand. Aachen was well-known for its cloth industry and therefor also for its needle factories. The workers used their right small finger for examining and sorting the needles. By the time the cloth industry lost ever more its prevailing role in the area of Aachen. But the sign of the Klenkes remained. Far from the city the Klenkes greeting is particularly useful: The Aachener makes himself recognizeable to other Aacheners, who are identified for example on the basis of the licenseplate (AC). In this way the Klenkes already helped to spontaneous joy celebrations.

I am sorry I forgot to log & remove this coin. I found it up in Georgia and moved it South to Miami, Florida. I have some friends from Germany that are going to help my place this coin back out in the wild. Thanks for the fun!!

Well, not sure what has happened to this coin since 2008, but it appears it was picked up by someone who did not know how to handle trackable items, got lost in the shuffle, etc. I hope the owners did not give up hope, our group knows how it feels as our coins have disappeared as well. I wish people would take a minute and READ the instructions provided with the coins and trackable items BEFORE taking them!

Anyway, we (Tim/GA, Operation Soak, PeQuilter, Soccer Coach and Jaxbeachhandyman) found coin here in Florida at a great cache in Guana State Park on the Atlantic side. Operation Soak had planned on taking it to California until we finally found that it had finally made it here from there! We will move it up the coast a bit and hope to get it on the way to another country. I am going to log the coin into the cache where we found it and we will log it back out tomorrow and get it on the way.

Found it while hiking with our daughter at Squaw Lake in the summer of 2008. Didn't get a chance to drop it off until we visited her in Jacksonville for Thanksgiving 2009. That's when we dropped it off in Guana.
