La Catrina, originalmente llamada La Calavera Garbancera, es una figura creada por José Guadalupe Posada y bautizada por el muralista Diego Rivera. Hoy en día, la catrina, siendo una invención popular, se ha vuelto un artefacto popular y ha salido de los límites del lienzo o el grabado para ser parte de la cultura viva mexicana, de sus usos y costumbres.
La Catrina, originally called La Calavera Garbancera, is a figure created by José Guadalupe Posada and baptized by the muralist Diego Rivera. Nowadays, catrina, being a popular invention, has become a popular artifact and has left the limits of canvas or engraving to be part of Mexican living culture, its uses and customs.
