Al went missing in January 2012 when the cache (http://coord.info/GC30D6A) he was in disappeared. If you happen to have found him, please contact a friend who may be into geocaching or email vheintz@gmail.com for instructions on how you may help him resume his adventure.
This bug's mission is to go on a "genocache" adventure. Alsatian Emigree (nicknamed "Al") wants to visit the birthplaces of my family's ancestors in Europe before making the journey to the USA. Al wants to visit interesting places along the way and hopefully have you take pictures and upload them here. Pictures of Al at his goals would be especially appreciated.
The stork is a migratory bird and is the symbol of Alsace. In this case Al represents my great grandfather who was born in the small town of Riedseltz in Alsace and emigrated to the USA in 1871. He married my great grandmother who was born in Kufstein, Austria. Hence this bug's first goal was to reach a cache in the vicinity of Kufstein.
My spouse's ancestors came from Sweden so the travel bug spent about 8 months touring this country. My mother's ancestors came from Ireland so that is the third destination country.
Al is allowed to wander (after all the owner's user name derives from the song of the happy wanderer) but should not stray too far from his current goal.
Completed stages of Al's journey:
-
Started near Riedseltz, France (Alsace) in N49E8 (Reloaded) cache on Nov 18, 2006.
-
Reached cache GCNN2V near Kufstein, Austria on Feb 8, 2008.
-
Reached cache Tokstollar in Stockholm, Sweden on May 23, 2008.
-
Reached cache Gothenburg Tourist Sweetspots 1 in Göteborg, Sweden on August 23, 2008.
-
Al had his picture taken in front of the Linden preschool near Göteborg, Sweden on November 20, 2008.
Note: Al prefers to be placed in conventional caches (and not in multi-caches or puzzle caches) so he can move along more quickly.

This is quite a big TB, so we needed to find a cache large enough to squeeze him into - now done!

Found this TB at Come into the Garden Maude - not Freddy Ferrets 2nd. Will try to help it on it's way - shame we didn't find it two months ago, before we went to Ireland on holiday!

Was asked by the owner to get it moving again so removed it from my cache (Freddy Ferret's Second) to Come into the Garden Maud at M4 J16. Hope Al makes it to Ireland soon...
