About This Item

PATIENT # 354 - DAMON

Meet Damon, patient #354 in our ongoing study of the spread of the zombie plague via geocaching.  Damon was a medical billing and coding specialist, who had a very useful talent of disappearing just as a disgruntled customer called to contest a bill.  Damon loved to study supernatural lore, particularly lore surrounding vampires and werewolves.   Damon had bright red hair, a slight Baltimore accent, and he loved barbeque potato chips.  Damon tried to geocache every weekend, and was working on finding more puzzle caches in order to meet the criteria of a challenge cache.

We believe that Damon contracted the plague from Gintar, patient #194 in our study. Gintar was an avid word puzzle aficionado, whether it was anagrams, crosswords, ciphers, palindromes or just about anything having to do with scrambled letters and puzzles.  Our research shows that Damon reached out to Gintar and offered to buy him lunch in exchange for some valuable insight into solving some very difficult puzzle caches.  During the meeting, Damon was eating barbeque potato chips and shared them with Gintar.  Gintar, who unknowingly had been infected with the plague just a day before, licked his fingers after each chip before reaching into the bag for more.  That day Gintar helped Damon solve quite a few difficult puzzles, but Damon never actually found the caches because he succumbed to the plague before he had the chance.

This travel bug is part of a larger study to take a closer look at how the zombie plague might propagate if the primary vector for spreading the disease was geocaching.  Please visit the following website for further details, and a visualization of how the disease has propagated thus far based on the movement and discovery of this and other infected Zombie travel bugs:
